ORIGINAL STORY: The City of Lytle issued a boil water notice for all residents on Thursday after a prolonged leak, according to a Facebook post from Mayor Ruben Gonzalez.
Shortly before 3 p.m., Gonzales made a post saying property owners and residents along County Road 681 and 1st Street were affected by an active leak.
Public Works crews for the city shut off water after school let out to address the leak. Gonzales expected the work to take several hours.
In a post at 8:20 p.m., Gonzalez asked Lytle residents to converse water as crews continued to work on the line.
At around 9:40 p.m., the city issued a boil water notice to all residents as the water was being brought back up, Gonzalez said.
Just before 2 a.m. Friday, Gonzalez said that water was flowing to all sections of the city, but boil water protocols were still in effect until the notice was lifted.
On Saturday, Gonzalez announced in a Facebook post that the boil notice would remain in place over the weekend.
“We hope to get an update from lab by Monday, 3 Feb, at noon,” Gonzalez said.
