Authorities said there is no evidence any threats were made

SEGUIN, Texas – A 16-year-old student at Seguin High School was arrested after allegedly appearing in a photo holding a firearm in the school’s restroom, according to the Seguin Police Department.

Seguin police began investigating Wednesday morning after a school administrator saw the post circulating on social media.

The photo showed the teenager holding what appeared to be a firearm inside a restroom on school grounds, Seguin police said in a news release.

Police and administrators confirmed the teenager attended Seguin High School and was in possession of a weapon on campus.

The student was detained on Thursday and will be charged with possessing a weapon in a prohibited location, according to police.

Authorities don’t believe any threats were made toward another student or the campus.

Seguin police said there will be an increase in law enforcement on campus.
