UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas – Northeast Lakeview College hosted a beam signing ceremony on Friday to mark the forthcoming opening of a veterans center at the campus.
The center, slated to open in November 2025, is being built using funds as part of the state appropriations for the 2022-2023 biennium, according to a news release.

Guests, employees, community members and college officials left their signatures on a beam that will form part of the 11,000-square-foot building.
The building will offer dedicated services and support for the veteran and military-connected students at Northeast Lakeview, the release said.
“This Center is a direct response to the veteran student population growth we have seen, with about 11% of students enrolled at NLC using veteran benefits last year,” said Dr. Veronica Garcia, NLC president.
The center will also revive a mentoring program at the college that pairs incoming veteran students with current students to support the transition process from service to academia, according to the release.
