One person killed, nine injured in Amarillo nightclub shooting

Three people have been arrested in connection to the deadly shooting

AMARILLO, Texas – Amarillo police are investigating a shooting at a nightclub that left one person dead and nine others injured.

Witnesses saw a vehicle drive up to the entrance of Chesney’s Whiskey Saloon in the early hours of Sunday morning. Moments later, a man got out of the car with a rifle and began firing into a large crowd, according to the Amarillo Police Department.

John Louima, 25, was shot and killed. The nine people injured in the shooting are expected to recover.

Police said they caught the shooter after his car was spotted at another location in the city.

Three people were arrested after the shooting, according to police. Two of the suspects are facing murder and gun violation charges. A third person is accused of public intoxication.

The identities of the suspects have not been announced yet.

Amarillo police believe the shooting stemmed from a fight that happened inside the nightclub earlier in the night.
