Officials say person shot by military security after attempted gate breach at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston

The person was shot in the leg, fire officials say

SAN ANTONIO – Military security shot a person after they attempted to breach a gate at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston on Saturday, base officials told KSAT.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Dunstan Road.

Military officials said the person tried to force their way through Walters Gate.

Security pursued the person and fired a weapon at them, authorities said.

The person was shot in the leg and transported to a local hospital, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

It is unclear if the person is a military member at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston in addition to the extent of their injuries.

Military officials said the shooting is under investigation.
