BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A 46-year-old man was arrested following a fatal shooting Thursday in southeast Bexar County, authorities said.

Michael Dimaggio was taken into custody after allegedly shooting a 39-year-old man during a confrontation outside Dimaggio’s home, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident happened just before 9 p.m. in the 6600 block of Harry Road near Elmendorf.

BCSO said the victim reportedly approached Dimaggio, who was walking his two dogs, and complained about the dogs barking.

Witnesses said an argument ensued, and the 39-year-old man allegedly threatened Dimaggio and hit him in the face, according to BCSO.

Dimaggio went inside his home and returned outside, telling the victim to leave his property, authorities said.

Witnesses reported that the 39-year-old man lunged at Dimaggio, and Dimaggio shot him in the chest, the sheriff’s office said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and Dimaggio was taken into custody.

Dimaggio reported he had chest pains after his arrest and was taken to a hospital. A revolver was later recovered during a search of his trailer, officials said.

Dimaggio remains in custody and is pending a charge of murder, according to the sheriff’s office.

The investigation is ongoing.
