SAN ANTONIO – A man was killed in a house fire on the South Side, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.
Fire crews responded to the fire in the 500 block of Schley Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
An SAFD commander said in a briefing that the fire had likely started in the back of the home.
Firefighters got the flames under control within about 15 minutes; however, a man was found dead in a bedroom inside the home, according to SAFD officials.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. SAFD said its arson and fire investigators were working to determine it.
An exact estimate of damages was unclear, but SAFD said it was significant.
The age of the man was not known.
