SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo is approaching quickly, but there is still time to register for the Vaquero Cook-Off.
The Vaquero Cook-Off kicks off the rodeo season. On Feb. 1, interested cooking teams will make four different dishes for the competition.

According to their website, the dishes are Arroz Con Pollo, Carne Guisada, Menudo and Cook’s Choice.
Winners will be selected from each category, as well as an Overall Champion.
If you don’t want to cook, you can still attend and enjoy the food at Market Square, their website said.
There is also a Juinor Vaquero Cook-Off, with teams of two to five people competing for a scholarship.
These teams will compete in three events: Fideo Loco, Charro Beans and Cook’s Choice.

This event occurs during Western Heritage Weekend, which runs from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2.
