Spurs-themed courts debut at Pletz Park on the East Side

Additions include brand-new basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs teamed up with Bexar County to revitalize a park on the East Side.

The additions include brand-new basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts, all in Spurs colors. They are located at Pletz Park, just past the Frost Bank Center.

Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert was joined by plenty of children, coaches, and the Spurs hype team to cut the ribbon.

The county commissioners' court approved a no-cost agreement with the team to feature their logo and colors at the park last September.

Spurs Vice President of Inclusive Entertainment Patricia Mejia said these courts are about making safe spaces for families everywhere to come and enjoy sports.

“San Antonio is a special place, right? The Spurs belong to the entire community. And so, to share something like this with a community where people can come and play and have time with their family. I think it is just an embodiment of what we want to have in our community,” said Mejia.

The courts are now open and ready for anyone wanting to try them.
