Construction work to close two main lanes through weekend on I-35 at 1604 on NE Side

SAN ANTONIO – Construction will ramp up on the Northeast Side this weekend, impacting drivers around Live Oak, Retama Park and Universal City.

As part of the I-35 NEX project, TxDOT will close the southbound I-35 collector ramp to the Loop 1604 mainlanes, as well as the southbound I-35 exit to Pat Booker Road.

TxDOT will also close two southbound I-35 mainlanes from Retama Parkway to Loop 1604 for drainage, barrier and striping work.

The work will take place from 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, to 5 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13.​​

Southbound I-35 to Westbound Loop 1604

Travelers on southbound I-35 should exit Retama Parkway and proceed on southbound I-35 frontage road through the Forum Parkway intersection. Continue on southbound I-35 frontage road to the westbound Loop 1604 frontage road. Head west through the Lookout Road intersection and use the next entrance ramp to enter westbound Loop 1604.​

Southbound I-35 to Eastbound Loop 1604 /Pat Booker Road

Travelers on southbound I-35 mainlanes should exit Judson Road and proceed to the Judson Road intersection. Turn left to the northbound I-35 frontage road. At the next traffic light turn left to access the northbound I-35 frontage road. Continue north through the Toepperwein Road intersection and follow the signs to Pat Booker Road. Travelers looking to access eastbound Loop 1604 should head east on Pat Booker Road until reaching Loop 1604 intersection. Turn right to access the eastbound Loop 1604 frontage road and use the next entrance ramp to enter eastbound Loop 1604.​
