BEXAR COUNTY – The Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office reported over 32 firework-related fires in unincorporated Bexar County from Dec. 28, 2024, to Jan. 1, 2025, resulting in $100,000 of property damage.
No serious firework-related injuries were reported during that time period, BCFMO said in a Thursday news release.

During the same timeframe, Bexar County Fire Dispatched received 1,961 emergency/911 calls and 2,548 calls from the non-emergency lines.
Here is a breakdown of THE incidents BCFMO responded to:
- 32 fires were related to fireworks
- 12 were grass/brush related fires
- 3 structure fires
- 2 vehicle fires
- 5 trash bin fires
- 10 non-habitable residential structures (shed, fence, etc.)
BCFMO said several incidents involved fireworks debris catching fire after popping fireworks.
A total of five illegal fireworks sales sites were shut down. About 750 pounds of fireworks products were seized from these sites in residential neighborhoods throughout Bexar County. These sales operations were shut down, and violations were issued, BCFMO said.
