SAN ANTONIO – Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) potentially exposed the banking information of 4,607 customers, according to the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
The breach was reported on the Data Breach Security Reports Website on Monday. The website said information such as names, debit card numbers and account numbers may have been leaked.
The credit union told KSAT that someone physically breached one of its ATMs.
RBFCU sent KSAT the following statement:
“RBFCU takes events like this very seriously. We continue to follow regulatory protocol as we contact our members and other affected parties.
“To protect our members’ privacy RBFCU will share no further details at this time.”
According to the website, those affected by the breach were sent a letter or email from the San Antonio-based credit union to inform them of the compromised data.
As of September 2023, Texas law now requires organizations and businesses to report breaches within 30 days of discovery that affect 250 or more Texans.
This would be RBFCU’s first data breach since the Attorney General’s office first started reporting these incidents last year.
