Woman killed in Northwest Side apartment complex fire, SAFD says

Fire was called in just after 11 a.m. in 3400 block of Fredericksburg Road

SAN ANTONIO – A woman is dead and multiple people were evacuated after a two-alarm fire started in a Northwest Side apartment complex, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

The fire was reported just after 11 a.m. at the Fredericksburg Place Apartment complex in the 3400 block of Fredericksburg Road.

Firefighters said they arrived to find a significant fire in the apartment complex.

They managed to put out the fire; however, fire officials said the fire damaged two apartment units, and two other units were damaged by smoke and water.

Authorities said the unidentified woman was on a balcony calling for help; however, when SAFD arrived to rescue the woman, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

According to the SAFD website, as many as 31 units answered the call.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
