Human remains found by property owners while cutting grass in field, BCSO says

It’s unclear if there is any suspected foul play, according to Sheriff Salazar

SAN ANTONIO – Human remains were found in a field on the West Side of San Antonio by the owners of the property while they were cutting grass, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

The discovery was made on Tuesday afternoon at a field off U.S. Highway 90 at Pue Road, less than a mile inside Loop 1604.

The property owners go to the field yearly to cut the grass.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said the property owners were mowing the grass near a ditch when they saw an unidentified object. As they approached it, they realized the object was a human skull, Salazar said.

Salazar said the skeleton is believed to be a man’s body because of the work clothes found with it.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office tentatively identified the body as that of a 60-year-old man on Monday.

BCSO believes the bones could have been at the property for a couple of years since they were bleached out.

According to the property owners, they did not see any human remains last year, Salazar said.

Salazar said it’s unclear if the person died under suspicious circumstances or if he died from natural causes.

BCSO encourages anyone to come forward with any information regarding this investigation.
