In a statement posted online last week, Sam Ash said they are closing all 42 locations. Sam Ash has one location in San Antonio — at 25 NE Loop 410 near McCullough Avenue — and one store each in Houston and Dallas.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that effective May 2nd 2024, all Sam Ash Music Store locations will begin store closing sales,” the statement reads. “This unfortunate news also presents a fantastic opportunity for great deals across our premium selection of musical instruments & pro sound equipment.”

Liquidation sales are taking place online and in stores.

This year marked Sam Ash’s 100th year in business.

Also last week, teen retail chain rue21 said it will close all of its 540 stores after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for the third time. Liquidation sales for the chain are underway.

Rue21 has three locations in San Antonio — at South Park Mall, Westover Marketplace and Ingram Park Mall — and one in San Marcos — at Tanger Outlet Center.
