Donors needed: Donate during the ‘KSAT Community Blood Drive’ in January

A single blood donation can help three patients in need

SAN ANTONIO – January marks National Blood Donor Month, a time to celebrate the gift of life through blood donations.

Blood can be among the first lines of defense in saving someone’s life. It is also a selfless and simple way to give back to your community.

If you’re a first-time donor or a donation pro, schedule an appointment with University Health to donate blood this January.

Every blood type is special, every blood type is needed and you are more qualified than you think! Qualified donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 115 pounds.

The KSAT Community Blood Donation Drive will happen on Monday, Jan. 27 and Tuesday, Jan. 28. Medical professionals will accept registrants in the new University Health Blood Bus. The fully equipped bus will serve blood donors at The Greenline at Brooks from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can schedule an appointment to give blood on the bus or at another University Health location.

What to know before you go!

  • Minimize your wait time and book your appointment at DonateBloodToday.com or call 210.358.2812.
  • Registration is easy. Just click Schedule Appointment and find the location nearest you.
  • Remember to stay hydrated to avoid fatigue.
  • Donors are encouraged to eat three hours before donating blood.
