La Salle County officials said hundreds of residents have decided to stay where they are as the Nueces River nears 29 feet.

After nearly 480 billion gallons of rain fell in the Hill Country last week, roughly 350 first responders were sent to La Salle County on Monday in preparation for significant flooding that could impact the area.

La Salle County officials activated an emergency response Thursday ahead of expected flooding along the Nueces River, deploying roughly 350 personnel from agencies across Texas and neighboring states.

While Gov. Greg Abbott provided new information Monday on the local and state response to flooding in Comal, Kendall and Kerr counties, several other South Central Texas cities are bracing for high floodwaters downstream.
