Castillo, Lopez in runoff to be new face of District 5 in San Antonio
Current Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales is completing her final, fourth term in office, leaving her seat open. Teri Castillo and Rudy Lopez finished at the head of an 11-way race to replace Gonzales in the May 6 municipal election with 2,077 and 991 votes, respectively.

SAN ANTONIO โ Crossing Culebra Road near I-10 has become a dangerous gamble for Jose Olivera and his wife. According to San Antonio police, a man and woman were killed crossing Culebra near Northwest 19th Street Wednesday night. She said drivers usually donโt slow down, which has caused Culebra Road to become dangerous. The councilwoman has been the lead advocate for Vision Zero since 2015. Gonzales believes Vision Zero should be a priority for the city and its residents so more lives can be saved.

Who is on the November 2020 election ballot for Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO โ We now know what the Bexar County ballot will look like for the 2020 General Election on Nov. 3. Any U.S. citizen who is 18 years old by Election Day and registered to vote in Texas by the Oct. 5 voter registration deadline can vote in the election, with a few exceptions prohibited by law. These are the candidates in contested races at the federal, state and Bexar County level. The candidates are listed in the order they will appear on the ballot. Lani Popp holds large lead over Robert Morrow in Texas State Board of Education runoff
Social mediaNo one on the Texas State Board of Education wants conspiracy theorist Robert Morrow to join their ranks and Tuesday's runoff election may give them their wish. All nine Republicans on the 15-member board endorsed Popp, including its chair, Keven Ellis, who tweeted Tuesday morning, "THOSE IN SBOE DISTRICT 5, SAY NO TO ROBERT MORROW. In March's primary, Morrow won 40% of the vote to Popp's 34%, bumping candidate Inga Cotton, a parent activist, out of the race but forcing a runoff. The victor will face Rebecca Bell-Metereau, a Texas State University English and film professor who narrowly lost to Mercer in 2016.
