Floodwaters from recent Texas storms are replenishing Corpus Christi's reservoirs, delaying a projected water emergency until 2028. Officials say the temporary relief won't slow nearly $1 billion in projects to diversify the city's long-term water supply.

Live Oak County officials are preparing for major flooding along the Nueces River as water continues moving through Live Oak County. Emergency crews are coordinating shelters, rescue teams and flood response ahead of the river's expected crest on Friday evening.

Emergency restrictions are now expected to hit in September 2027, so the coastal city still faces a challenging future.

With one main reservoir almost at capacity, the city may be on pace to delay an emergency declaration from December to early 2027.
