Suspect who shot semi-truck driver in road rage incident charged, San Antonio police say

SAN ANTONIO – A man detained after a suspected road rage shooting on Interstate 35 toward the Northeast Side has been charged, according to San Antonio police.

The incident happened Monday afternoon along I-35 northbound near the Thousand Oaks Drive exit.

An officer at the scene told KSAT that a man driving a semi-truck and the driver of a sedan, identified as 21-year-old Jose Israel Teran, were involved in a road rage incident.

At some point, Teran pulled out a gun and shot the man inside the semi-truck in the leg, police said. The two vehicles eventually crashed along the road.

The driver of the semi-truck was taken to a local hospital for treatment, SAPD said.

Police said Teran was detained, and three witnesses were taken in for further questioning. He was later charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a preliminary police report.

No other people or vehicles were involved in the incident.
