Ready to witness the celestial event of a lifetime? There are multiple events across South Texas on Monday, Apr. 8 when the total eclipse takes to the sky around 1:30 p.m.
A total eclipse occurs when the moon moves in between the Sun and the Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun.
The northwest portion of Bexar County will be in the path of totality, along with many areas in the Hill Country and the South Texas Plains.

Here are a few events that will be taking place across the area if you want to venture out, but don’t forget, you will need eclipse glasses before and after totality!
San Antonio: View the Eclipse with the Parks and Recreation Department
- Watch the eclipse with the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department.
- This free event will take place from 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on April 8 at nine locations across the city.

San Antonio: Eclipse Watch Party at The Alamo
- Watch the eclipse from the Alamo in downtown San Antonio!
- This free event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Monday, April 8.
- Alamo-themed eclipse glasses can be purchased to view the eclipse for $5 each.

San Antonio: View the Eclipse at the Witte Museum
- View the eclipse from the Witte Museum in San Antonio.
- A general admission ticket will grant you access to the museum where the viewing event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Monday, April 8.
- Complimentary eclipse glasses will be handed out with general admission, while supplies last.

San Antonio: Watch Parties at Alamo Colleges
- Campuses in the Alamo Colleges will have free eclipse watch parties on Monday.
- At Northwest Vista College, Boeing is sponsering an event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event includes a garden of telescopes, scientists, college professors, college students, elementary and middle schools, food trucks, music, other entertainment, and the Scobee Education Center and Planetarium. San Antonio: Solar Eclipse at Fiesta Texas
- Experience the annular solar eclipse at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
- Several packages are available for purchase and include things like eclipse glasses, t-shirts, exclusive seating for the fireworks and drone show, and haunted house wristbands depending on which package you choose.

San Antonio: Eclipse Party at SeaWorld
- Experience the eclipse at SeaWorld San Antonio, and maybe even on a roller coaster ride.
- The park will open at 11 a.m. and complimentary eclipse glasses will be provided for the first 2,500 guests.

San Antonio: Total Eclipse of the Arts at the Tobin Center
- View the total eclipse from the top of the Tobin Center’s parking garage on Monday, Apr. 8
- This viewing party is a free event running from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Food vendors, music, and games will be available, along with free parking on the lower levels of the parking garage.
- Complimentary viewing glasses will be offered to the first 100 guests.

San Antonio: VIP Eclipse Viewing Party at Natural Bridge Caverns
- Celebrate and view the eclipse at Natural Bridge Caverns.
- Food, discounted tours, loungers, games and activities will be featured at the event on Monday, Apr. 8.
- Three levels of packages will be available for purchase. Each package includes parking, reserved seating, and eclipse glasses.

San Antonio: Hemisfair
- Head down to Hemisfair for a free eclipse viewing party!
- While not in the path of totality, the event will be totally fun. Hemisfair staff will be giving away eclipse glasses and goodies while supplies last.
- It is free and scheduled for noon to 2 p.m.
San Antonio: Travis Park
- Centro San Antonio, Center City Development & Operations (CCDO) and Travis Park are hosting the Centro Solar Celebration.
- The official NASA live feed will be broadcast on a large screen, and the event will include food trucks, free eclipse-themed snacks, free eclipse-themed t-shirts and a live DJ.
- The event lasts from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, April 8.
San Antonio: All Southside ISD campuses
- Southside ISD will host a viewing at all of its campuses for students and staff members.
- All students and staff members will be given a free pair of eclipse viewing glasses.
- The campuses will also have fun activities and lessons to inspire wonder and learn the science behind eclipses.
San Antonio: Eclipse Extravaganza at the San Antonio Zoo
- Take part in a day’s worth of educational activities at the San Antonio Zoo.
- Happening the day before the eclipse, on Sunday, Apr. 7, the festivities are slated to start at 11 a.m.

- Experience the eclipse at Northwest Vista College on Monday, Apr. 8.
- This free event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include scientific activities along with food trucks. Telescope viewing areas will also be available.

Fredericksburg: Eclipse-O-Rama 2024
- Bill Nye the Science Guy will be at Fredericksburg’s Eclipse-O-Rama on Monday, April 8.
- The beloved scientist and The Planetary Society are hosting a two-day camping festival to discuss all things space and have one big eclipse viewing party.

Fredericksburg: Arch Ray Resort’s Eclipse Fest
- Arch Ray Resort is offering boondocking, overland vehicle and tent camping for its two-day Eclipse Fest.
- Food, beverages and live music from the Goo Goo Dolls, Switchfoot, Fastball, and Kyle Parks.

Boerne: Total Eclipse Viewing Party in Kendall County
- Experience the eclipse from Hill Country at the Kendall County Fair Association’s viewing party.
- This event will take place in Boerne from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 8 at the Kendall County Fairgrounds.

- Located in Boerne, experience the total eclipse following a weekend’s worth of events at Cave Without a Name.
- Running from Saturday, April 6 through Monday, April 8, this three-day, family-friendly event features camping, music, and fun.

Kerrville: Eclipse Festival in Louise Hays Park
- Just a few miles from the center line of totality, a free viewing event will take place at Louise Hays Park in Kerrville on Monday, April 8.
- Scientific speakers, live music, and activities for children will be offered with the event that will officially start at 10 a.m.
- NASA will also be livestreaming the eclipse from this event for folks all over the country to see.
- Limited off-site parking may be reserved ahead of the eclipse, for a fee.
Kerrville: ‘Kerrclipse’ Festival at Quiet Valley Ranch
- The multi-day ‘Kerrclipse’ Festival will take place from Friday, April 5 through Monday, April 8 at Quiet Valley Ranch in Kerrville.
- Event tickets include concerts and camping, along with a location to view the total eclipse.

Bandera: Ground Zero Musicfest
- This five-day, four-night music fest is touted as a family-friendly event, with more than 20 musical acts, including the Georgia Satellites, Dokken, Great White, and the Bellamy Brothers.
- Taking place in the Mansfield Park Rodeo Arena inside Bandera, it’ll feature a full cowboy rodeo, stunt shows, kids zone, cornhole tournaments, horseshoe tournaments, and a total eclipse viewing area.

Across Texas: Eclipse Viewing at Texas State Parks
- Watch the eclipse from a Texas State Park!
- Thirty-one state parks, including Enchanted Rock and Garner State Park, are in the path of totality. A partial eclipse can still be viewed from the remaining parks.
- A reservation or a camping permit is required to enter a park. Regular state park passes do not guarantee entry on the day of the eclipse.

Del Rio: Solar Eclipse Fest
- Featuring events over a four-day span, the fest runs from April 5-8.
- Nightly concerts will take place at the Val Verde County Fairgrounds, with a Sunday lineup of John Michael Montgomery, Stoney LaRue, and Eli Young Band.
- Other events are planned throughout the city, including many that are free.
- Three minutes and 28 seconds of totality will occur around 1:30 p.m. on April 8.

Burnet: Texas Eclipse Festival
- This is one of the bigger events taking place in Texas, located on Reveille Peak Ranch near Burnet.
- The festival has numerous artists, DJs, producers, and instrumentalists, plus immersive art, speakers, and panels.
- Camping is available for those who attend.

Dripping Springs: Hill Country Solar Eclipse Fest
- Taking place at the Lucky Arrow Retreat in Dripping Springs, this family-friendly event runs from April 7-9.
- Day tickets grant access to our picturesque overlook (eclipse-safe viewing glasses included), planetarium showings, beer/wine tastings, live music, and more.
- Overnight lodging is also available.
Junction: Texclipse Music Festival
- The Texclipse Music Festival will be held in Junction from April 6-8.
- Various events including live music, rodeo, wine tasting, and a chili cookoff will take place over the course of the weekend.
