One tip cracked a 5-year-old murder case wide open

A suspect is finally behind bars for a murder that went unsolved for five years — and it all started with a Crime Stoppers tip. 40-year-old Alan Maxwell is accused of shooting into a car on Huebner Road back in 2021, killing 17-year-old Eric Torres of Laredo. But Katrina Webber dug into the arrest affidavit, and what police found is way more chilling than the road rage story everyone assumed. Turns out, Maxwell wasn't randomly targeting strangers — he was allegedly chasing his ex-girlfriend after catching her with another man, and mistook Torres' car for hers.
