It says investigators also found evidence that he had sold one of the catalytic converters to a metal recycler. Police departments in Kerrville, Alamo Heights and Windcrest also had reports earlier this year of catalytic converters thefts. At this time, the only charge against Ramirez stems from the thefts in San Antonio.
Seguin police recover thousands in merchandise stolen from storage units
SEGUIN, Texas – Seguin police are asking Guadalupe County residents to check on their storage units after thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen property was recovered. “We had criminals in surrounding areas where they scope out various storage units in the city and county,” said Rusty Suarez, assistant chief of Seguin police. Caught on camera: Woman struggles with suspect allegedly trying to steal her dog
WINDCREST – A Windcrest community is hoping a man caught on camera allegedly trying to steal a resident’s dog is brought to justice soon. The victim, a 68-year-old woman, was there when the attempted theft happened Monday afternoon at her home near Parkcrest and Moorside. “She hears somebody approaching and speaking to the dog saying, ‘Come here girl! Come here girl!’ So, she turns around and sees this man trying to steal her dog,” Presti said. Presti said this not the only complaint of a person trying to steal from pet owners.
5 vehicles, 45 car keys stolen by burglars at Ancira dealership, police say
SAN ANTONIO – While the temperatures were dropping this week in San Antonio, a few burglars used that as an opportunity to take new vehicles off of the Ancira dealership parking lot. The incident was discovered Wednesday by an employee at the Ancira dealership on I-10. That employee found a door smashed open, 45 car keys stolen and five vehicles gone. Perpetrator caught on camera breaking into mailboxes on far West Side
SAN ANTONIO – Residents in a San Antonio neighborhood on the far West Side are outraged at the number of times their mailboxes have been broken into. The resident, a veteran who asked not to be identified, said he initially had a camera installed on his property facing the mailboxes on Arrowhead Trail to watch for the person delivering the mail. “I usually check it every day, and this time when I check it, I noticed the back of the mailbox was open,” the veteran said. He reaches in and gets some mail and gets in his truck and he is gone!”Neighbors said they’ve been hit several times before. “I hope it stops them and it forces the Postal Service to replace these old 30-year-old mailboxes that are easy to pop open with more secure mailboxes.
San Antonio police searching for 2 men on bicycles in copper theft on SW Side
SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police say two men on bicycles are the subjects of a search on the city’s Southwest Side early Monday morning. SAPD said the pair broke into a building in the 400 block of Citrus Avenue near Port San Antonio and stole a couple loads of copper wiring around 5 a.m.Police said the copper wire was located in barrels and that they did not take it out of any of the machines or equipment. A monetary value of the theft was not given. Investigators said an employee tried to stop the robbers, but they still got away. The men were last seen pedaling away on bicycles, police said.
