Group thanks Congress members from San Antonio for defending workersโ rights
SAN ANTONIO โ The Workers First caravan came together to deliver letters of thanks to Reps. Lloyd Doggett and Joaquin Castro in San Antonio on Wednesday. The group says both Congress members have been allies and defenders when it comes to workers' rights, especially during the pandemic. Still, the group says there's more to be done. โMaking sure all those people get the help they need to feed their children, to pay for their bills, to get them jobs that pay them $15 an hour and not what they pay here in Texas, which is $7.25 minimum wage,โ said Linda Chavez-Thompson, former executive vice president of the AFL-CIO. Chavez-Thompson said the fight for workersโ rights will continue to be especially crucial on Election Day this November.
San Antonio airport to get nearly $40 million in federal aid due to coronavirus pandemic
SAN ANTONIO โ The San Antonio International Airport will receive millions of dollars in federal aid as the coronavirus pandemic has nearly paralyzed the travel industry. The airport will receive $39,708,109 under the CARES Act that was passed in late March, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Kelly Field will receive $20,000 and the Stinson Municipal Airport will receive $30,000.
