The Texas Department of Transportation, better known as TxDOT, plans to close I-10 in Boerne the weekend of August 20 as the U.S. 87 bridge is set to be demolished. Jeff Wilson drove home from Los Angeles to Kendall County, northwest of San Antonio, after his mail-in ballot did not arrive in time. He first booked a flight to El Paso, CBS reported, but elected to drive once he saw COVID-19 cases were surging in the city. The journey, which Wilson documented on Instagram, took 24 hours and 23 minutes, including a brief stop for shut-eye in West Texas. He made it home in time to cast his vote at Boerne City Hall.

A Kendall County man who serves as a softball coach has been accused of sexually assaulting one of his players.According to multiple reports, a 17-year-old girl said her coach, Danny C. Perez, sexually abused her during a trip to a tournament out of town for their club softball team. Perez was arrested in Kendall County that same day, but was transferred to Harris County on December 3. He was released last week after posting his $50,000 bond.The District Attorney's Office in Kendall County believes Perez may have abused other children or young women . One person was killed after the roof of a mobile home collapsed Saturday in Boerne. Jeff Fincke, Kendall County emergency management coordinator, said the roof collapsed before 1 p.m. as a family was jacking up one side of the trailer in the 300 block of Los Indios Ranch. Seven people in total were trapped, including one that was killed, Fincke said. The family was remodeling the home and was replacing a beam when the roof came down, he said. At least six emergency crews responded, including Boerne Fire Department and San Antonio Fire Department.

Parents were busy Tuesday unloading minivans and SUVs packed full of playpens and shoes their kids have outgrown. "We saved up all this boy stuff because we thought maybe we'd have another boy," he said. Barton is a super-seller who is making grownup profits on kids' stuff.
DEA task force seizes 7 kilos of heroin, fentanyl destined for Bexar County
A shipment of heroin and fentanyl that investigators say was destined for Bexar County was seized Tuesday night in Kendall County outside of Boerne. The seizure and resulting two arrests were part of a Drug Enforcement Administration task force operation, said Dante Sorianello, chief of the San Antonio District for the DEA and assistant special agent in charge. Sorianello said the 4 kilograms of black tar heroin and what they believe are 3 kilograms of fentanyl likely came from Mexico. Both Prichard and Sorianello stressed the danger of fentanyl, in particular. "However, because it's not monitored, it is not scientific and it is fentanyl, a lot of these pills are receiving too much fentanyl enough that will kill a person."

CNN VideoSAN ANTONIO - The Boerne Police Department announced Wednesday that residents living in Boerne, Fair Oaks Ranch and Kendall County are now able to text to 911. Authorities said being able to text to 911 will allow people to communicate with emergency dispatchers in situations where it is unsafe to call. Such situations include medical emergencies, abductions, home invasions, or a domestic violence situation. Officials said texting to 911, however, does not send someone to your location, so its important to include it. The police department also stressed that calling 911 still remains the best and fastest way to get help in an emergency.
Cyber tip leads to arrest of man accused of sharing child porn
SAN ANTONIO - A cyber tip led to the arrest of a man accused of sharing child pornography. Police in Boerne worked alongside the Kendall County District Attorney's Office to make the arrest. A special victims prosecutor got a tip that Baese was asking for and sending the images on a social media website. Investigators said he transmitted pictures of nude children as young as 6 years old. Baese faces two to 20 years in prison for each image.

Kendall County Sheriff's Office Identifies Deputy Killed During Traffic Stop
click to enlarge ShutterstockKendall County officials are mourning the death of a sheriff's deputy who was fatally struck during a traffic stop Tuesday morning.Deputy Carlos Ramirez and his partner had pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 10 when a black pickup truck ran over the deputy. "I want his wife and his family to know that we're here for them," Kendall County Sheriff Al Auxier said. "Ramirez's partner, who has not been named, and the driver of the pulled-over vehicle were hospitalized with injuries . The partner has since been released.The driver of the black pickup truck has not been identified , and it's unclear whether the person will face charges . Law enforcement continues to investigate the incident.Auxier said it's been "many years" since a first responder had died while on the job in Kendall County.

Hunter remains free on bond awaiting trial after being arrested in late April in Bexar County on the Kendall County warrant. The board found that Hunter advertised one of her former businesses as combining medical expertise with authentic spa care, according to the order. Hunter's April arrest came nearly three years after Boerne police first arrested her on charges of misdemeanor forgery and felony practicing without a medical license. The Defenders have been unable to determine what treatments Hunter is currently offering and whether she needs a state medical license to provide them. Licensed vs. CertifiedHunter's current website claims that she is board certified as a Doctor of Integrative Medicine, Doctor of Humanitarian Services, Doctor of Natural Medicine, Alternative Medical Practitioner and as a Holistic Health Practitioner.
