BCSO said deputies responded to a call from a 12-year-old child at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The 12-year-old told deputies their mother, Lewis, said she was going to pick up a package nearby but never returned. Deputies said Lewis left the 12-year-old and her 9-year-old sibling alone.

BCSO said deputies used a cellphone ping to locate Lewis.

The sheriff’s office said once they found Lewis, she appeared to be intoxicated. She admitted to leaving her children unsupervised for a prolonged period of time, BCSO said.

Deputies said they also discovered Lewis had a small amount of cocaine when she was taken into custody.

Lewis was later booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center.
