SAN ANTONIO – A 19-year-old woman has been arrested in the murder of a 20-year-old man killed on the Northwest Side last year, according to an arrest affidavit.

Julie Marie Lopez is charged in the death of 20-year-old Isaiah Guevara, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside his apartment at the Villas of Oak Creste, located at 5315 Fredericksburg Road, on Oct. 26, 2024.

Police were called to the scene around 4 a.m. to the complex following reports of gunshots and bullet holes in an apartment wall.

Officers found Guervara dead with apparent gunshot wounds and spent shell casings near the body. They also found a QuikTrip cup with a straw, black lid, and red liquid on the victim’s dresser, which was still cold and had condensation.

A witness told police they saw two men leaving the apartment and heard a woman’s voice yelling at them from the parking lot, but they couldn’t see her.

A witness saw the two men running downstairs, and a doorbell camera caught three people fleeing the scene.

Instagram messages showed communication between the victim and the defendant on the night of the shooting, including plans to meet, the affidavit said.

Police said Lopez initially sent Guevara her address to pick her up with a rideshare driver, but she later stated she had found a ride.

Surveillance video from a QuikTrip near Guervara’s apartment showed Lopez and Guevara inside the convenience store. Lopez was seen drinking from a Quiktrip cup with a straw, black lid, and red liquid, the affidavit said.

Police said a second witness was driving the vehicle that Guevara and Lopez exited and returned to from the convenience store and then back to the apartment complex, according to the affidavit.

Lopez sent a voice message to the second witness at 3:42 a.m. on the night of the incident, indicating the group was “hiding,” the affidavit said.

Shell casings from another crime scene matched those found at the victim’s apartment, police said.

The driver of the vehicle Lopez and Guevara were in provided a police statement on Dec. 22, 2024, and confirmed Guevara’s identity, the affidavit said. The witness told police they dropped off Lopez and Guevara’s complex and then picked her up.

The witness said they did not remember the voice message sent by Lopez and denied picking up anyone else, according to the affidavit.

An anonymous tipster told police on Jan. 6 that they had heard Lopez speaking with a relative after a Crime Stoppers bulletin was posted in which she admitted to being at the victim’s apartment that night and described the event as a setup, the affidavit said.

Lopez told police the next day that she was at Guevara’s apartment on the night of the shooting. She refused to identify the other two people she had been with that day and who she referenced in the voice message, according to the affidavit.

The suspect told police, “It’s my choice,” and “It’s my mistake,” when she was asked about taking responsibility for the murder while the other suspects remained free.

A separate witness on Jan. 15 told police Lopez had been part of the setup for the victim to be robbed, and one of her friends killed Guervara while they were in his apartment, the affidavit said,

Police have released no further information about the other two people.
