This HVAC upgrade installed by Shafer with the new air purification system is improving the H-E-B Body Adventure, making the visiting space safer during the coronavirus pandemic. Museum officials on Tuesday said the new system can reduce 99.4% of COVID-19 air particles within 30 minutes of use. “The air purification systems use ionization and UV light to reduce virus particles, making The Witte Museum one of the city’s most advanced attractions and cultural institutions as far as pandemic health precautions,” the release states. It’s called “The Machine Inside: Biomechanics” and it traveled from Chicago’s Field Museum. Pumps, motors, thick jaws and much more allow visitors to learn about how every machine in human bodies, plants and even animals have a function. All the information presented in The Machine Inside: Biomechanics is presented in both English and Spanish, allowing for more visitors to learn about science. But Imelda Garcia, who chairs the state panel that recommends vaccine prioritization for Texas’ nearly 30 million residents, said the Biden administration may make some changes that they’ll want to consider for the next phase. AdGarcia said Texas is “not satisfied” with the supply of vaccines and did not hint at what groups might be eligible next.

But the museum still needs the community’s help -- which is why they currently have the Not Out of the Woods Yet Recovery fund. Another hit the Witte has taken is the revenue from its weddings and events which have been canceled since March. “It’s an almost 100-year-old gather place,” McDermott said.

The museum said they were bringing the play back in celebration of Juneteenth.
