One day before what would have been her 13th birthday, the family of a student killed in the Uvalde school massacre launched a nonprofit in her honor.

Texas State scholarship honors the life of Robb Elementary victim Tess Mata.

The Matas never celebrated Day of the Dead before; this year they built an altar at the grave of 10-year-old Tess, surrounded by family. For Thanksgiving and Christmas, they broke their traditions.

Tess Mata, 10, was a special girl who loved softball, soccer and the Houston Astros.

A funeral for 10-year-old Tess Mata, one of the victims of the Uvalde elementary school massacre, will be held on Monday.
