Haley Butler is a journalist and producer at KSAT 12. Haley received her journalism degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where she focused her studies on broadcast and audio storytelling.
Before graduating, she received a Hearst Radio Broadcast award for her work on drag show protests and UT's performance of Shakespeare's controversial play The Merchant of Venice, in the wake of the Pittsburg synagogue shooting.
After graduating, Haley helped build The Drag Audio Production House out of UT's journalism school. Haley reported, wrote, and produced "The Orange Tree," a long-form documentary podcast about the murder of 21-year-old Jennifer Cave in 2005. The award-winning podcast was the first podcast released by The Drag, in conjunction with KUT, Austin's NPR station.
In her spare time, Haley likes to read non-fiction, try food from all over the world, and take classes at UTSA and Alamo Colleges.
