SAN ANTONIO – The Harlan Hawks took care of business at Northside Sports Gym, sweeping the Marshall Rams in three sets.
In the first set, Harlan built an early lead after Marshall sent the ball over the net and setter Aliyana Serbones set up outside hitter Nailah Randle, who put the ball down for a kill to make it 11-9.
Marshall continued to battle as the set went on. Marieme Fall attempted a kill, but Harlan’s defense came up with a block. The Rams kept the play alive before Arianna Wright set up Tatiana Laboy, who finished the rally with a kill for Marshall.
Harlan ultimately pulled away and completed the clean three-set sweep.
“To be the best, you have to play the best,” Harlan head coach Monica Gonzales said. “I think pressure is a privilege, and we talk about that from the beginning.”
Randle, an outside hitter for Harlan and an LSU commit, said the team has continued to improve since the start of the season.
“Continuing that hard work. Accomplish the goals we set for our team,” Randle said.
The Hawks will host on Tuesday, Sept. 8, against Taft at 6 p.m.
