SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio hosted The Running Event for the first time, showcasing specialty running and outdoor brands.
The expo is being held from Dec. 2 to Dec. 4 at the Henry B. González Convention Center ahead of Sunday’s inaugural San Antonio Marathon.
According to Visit San Antonio’s economic projections, hosting The Running Event 2025 is expected to generate an economic impact of more than $5.7 million, fueled by $3.3 million in direct spending and millions more through indirect business sales, job support, and local tax revenue.
The convention was previously held in Austin, but moved to San Antonio following planned renovations at the former’s convention center.
“That was a huge win for San Antonio, the city (and) Visit San Antonio,” said San Antonio Sports President and CEO Jenny Carnes. “We had a little bit of luck when Austin decided to shut down their convention center and do some renovations, but we were up against some stiff competition to steal this away, and (we are) very proud that it will be here for the next three years.”
This year’s exhibit hall features 357 exhibitors from across the United States and the globe, including 125 first-time brands.
“All of these exhibitors are here showcasing the 2026 apparel lines (and) the new shoe lines to retailers to try to get them into their, you know, next year’s lines in their stores. And so, it’s the who’s who of the running and outdoor world,” Carnes said.
