RECALL ROUNDUP: Tesla Powerwall AC systems, Belkin power banks and Zippee toys

Certain products recalled due to potential safety risks, CPSC says

SAN ANTONIO – Certain products from popular brands are being pulled due to a potential safety risk.

Tesla and Belkin are among the brands with recalled products, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Here’s what you need to know to keep your family safe:

Tesla

The company is pulling around 10,500 of its Powerwall 2 AC Battery Power Systems because the lithium-ion cells may stop functioning and overheat, posing a fire risk.

Tesla has received 22 overheating reports, including six reports of smoke and five fires, resulting in minor property damage. As of this writing, no injuries have been reported, the CPSC said.

These were sold online through Tesla’s website and by certified Tesla Powerwall installers nationwide from November 2020 to December 2022.

If you have one, check on the Tesla app for a notification that says whether your unit is included in this recall.

The CPSC said affected systems are being remotely discharged (meaning the energy is removed) to prevent overheating until a replacement can be installed.

If the unit is included, make sure the system is offline.

Belkin

Around 83,500 of Belkin’s wireless charging stands and portable power banks are being pulled because they could overheat and pose a burn hazard.

One fire has been reported in the U.S., the CPSC said. While minor burn injuries and property damage have occurred internationally due to these products. No incidents have been reported in the U.S. as of this writing.

These were sold in stores at Best Buy, Target and Walmart. They were also sold online through Amazon.com, the TikTok app and Belkin.com from August 2020 to August 2025, the CPSC said.

Owners are advised to stop using the affected products and contact the company to request a full refund or store credit, provided a receipt is submitted through its recall submission form.

You can still receive a partial refund or store credit without a receipt, according to the CPSC.

Mobi Games

Around 117,500 of the company’s Zippee silicone activity toys are being recalled because they have spherical ends that can reach the back of the throat, posing a serious choking risk to children if swallowed.

One incident of a child gagging, choking and vomiting after placing the toy in their mouth has been reported to the company. The child had no further injuries and was released from medical care, the CPSC said.

These were sold online through Amazon.com, Playmobi.com and Target.com from November 2019 to January 2024.
