12 major weather-related crashes reported on San Antonio roads Tuesday morning, SAPD says

BCSO responded to over 20 drivers stuck on icy roadways

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police responded to dozens of weather-related incidents on Tuesday, 12 of which were major crashes.

From midnight to 8:23 a.m., officers responded to 43 inclement weather-related incidents, according to Ricardo Guzman, a Public Information Officer for the San Antonio Police Department.

Guzman said 12 of those crashes were dispatched as “major accidents,” but officers did not report any major injuries resulting from the crashes, he said.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has also been responding to several incidents because of the winter storm. On its social media, the agency reported over 20 drivers were stuck on icy roadways.

As of 11:00 AM, BSCO has responded to 15 crashes due to the inclement weather.

Road closures were also reported, including at Loop 1604 and Wiseman.
