Hello! This is the final ā€œThings to Do this weekendā€ story of 2024 ā€“ but donā€™t worry, plenty more are coming your way in 2025!

If you havenā€™t gotten a chance, thereā€™s still time left to check out holiday lights or head out to ice skate at the Rotary Ice Rink at Travis Park.

New Yearā€™s Eve lands on Tuesday, and several places announced they are hosting parties, dinners and fireworks displays. Celebrate SA is one of the events that are free to the public, while other locations may cost hundreds of dollars. However, some places with admission include a free champagne toast and party favors.

  • HOLIDAY LIGHTS: From drive-thru light parks to illuminated campuses, you can check out holiday lights at Santaā€™s Ranch, the San Antonio Botanical Gardenā€™s ā€œIlluminate,ā€ Zoo Lights, the Coca-Cola Classic Christmas or The Light Park in Selma. Wherever it may be, there is a place across the city for you to check out. For a full list of places with holiday lights, click here.
  • ICE RINK BY PEARL: Guests can glide on the outdoor ice-skating rink until Jan. 5 at 1603 Broadway by the Pearl. Tickets can be purchased online.
  • MARKET DAYS: Visit the Pearlā€˜s Farmers Market every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to shop for local produce and meat. You could also go to the Makers Market every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. to view and shop from over 40 local artisans making culinary-inspired home goods, such as pottery and wood crafts. The Pearl is located at 303 Pearl Pkwy.
  • ā€œNUTCRACKER! MAGICAL CHRISTMAS BALLETā€: You can check out the performance at the Majestic Theatre at different times between Dec. 27-28. Tickets are available online.
  • ROTARY ICE RINK: The ice rink in Travis Park will be open until Jan. 5. The rink will be open from 5-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5-11 p.m. on Fridays, noon to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and school holidays, and 1-8 p.m. on Sundays. Holiday hours can be found online. General admission tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased here.
  • WINTERFEST: The Rock at La Cantera will host Winterfest until Jan. 6. Guests can head out to ice skate and visit Santa every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or enjoy shopping at the holiday market. The market is open every Friday and Saturday from 6-11 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 27

  • FOURTH FRIDAY: The Rock at La Cantera will host its monthly Fourth Friday event starting at 6 p.m.
  • SHENG WANG: The comedian will perform at 7 p.m. at the Aztec Theatre. Tickets can be purchased online.
  • THE SPAZMATICS: The band will perform at Blue Bonnet Palace at 9 p.m. at 17630 Lookout Road in Selma. Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased online.

Saturday, Dec. 28

  • PET ADOPTION: If youā€™re planning to adopt a furry friend, the Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming will host its last adoption event for the year from noon to 4 p.m. at 999 E Basse Road Suite 184.
  • VALERO ALAMO BOWL: The No. 17-ranked BYU Cougars will face the 23rd-ranked Colorado Buffaloes at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 in the Alamodome. Sunday, Dec. 29

  • FREE YOGA SESSION: The Good Kind will host a free yoga session from 10-11 a.m. every Sunday.
  • GARY OWEN & LAVELL CRAWFORD: The comedians will bring their ā€œOh, You Funny 4 Real Tourā€ to the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts at 8 p.m. Tickets are available online.
