Amazon announces plans for 3 new facilities, 1,500 jobs in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO โ Amazon announced plans on Tuesday to open two new fulfillment centers and a delivery station in San Antonio that will bring more than 1,500 new full-time jobs to the area. A new one million-square-foot fulfillment center at 10360 US 90 on the far West Side of San Antonio is expected to open in 2021. A 750,000-square-foot robotics fulfillment center, expected to open in 2022, will pick, pack and ship smaller items like electronics, books and toys, the release said. โSan Antonioโs diverse industries, skilled workforce, and sustainable infrastructure make us resilient and we are ready to support significant growth from tech-focused companies like Amazon,โ said San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg. โThe Lone Star State is proud to welcome Amazonโs expansion in the San Antonio region,โ said Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
San Antonioโs newest drive-in, Mission Outdoor Theater, opening in September with 2 screens
SAN ANTONIO โ A drive-in movie theater with on-site food trucks is slated to open at Brooks City Base as more people hang outdoors due to the pandemic. The Mission Outdoor Theater will have its opening day on Sept. 4, according to a news release. Itโs the creation of Electric Fiesta, which hosted the cityโs first-ever EDM drive-in in June. San Antonio Drive-In at Fiesta Texas adds more dates and movies to lineupDifferent movies will be shown on each screen and they will play between two to four flicks per night. Movie-goers are allowed to bring food but there will be food trucks on site.
