SAN ANTONIO – The Missions have called Nelson Wolff Stadium home since 1994, when they left V.J. Keefe Field at St. Mary’s University.
Since then, Wolff Stadium has gone through their series of upgrades, including updates to the batting cages, clubhouse and more when the Missions moved up to Triple-A for one season.

Now, the Missions welcome some badly needed changes including the replacement of the padding on the field walls and the addition of an all-video scoreboard. The Double-A Missions will also add a cantina on the first base side of the stadium.
“We’re excited because the one we had was about 15 years old and it was pretty nice,” said Missions President Burl Yarbrough. “The entire scoreboard is going to be video now and it’s something you’d see in newer ballparks and it was something we were lacking.”

On Saturday afternoon, the Missions released their Break Camp Roster as MLB Spring Training wraps up in two days. The roster includes two of the San Diego Padres’ top 30 prospects and 13 former Missions making their return to San Antonio. Former Missions shortstop C.J. Abrams has been great at Padres camp so far and could be on their opening day roster this week according to AJ Cassavell. Left-handed pitcher MacKenzie Gore is not on the Missions current roster and has done well at spring training. Gore has been playing to make his case to earn a spot on the Padres pitching rotation. However, the Padres made a trade with the Oakland A’s Sunday for left-handed pitcher Sean Manaea.
“Every year it’s exciting as we get closer,” said Yarbrough. “We’re back in the Texas League and every season is special and we’re looking forward to this one as well.”
This will be the 120th season for the Missions ballclub. Missions Manager Phillip Wellman and select players will address the media on Wednesday afternoon.

The Missions will open the season with a three-game road trip at the Corpus Christi Hooks starting Friday. San Antonio will host their home opener on Tuesday, April 12 as they begin a six-game homestand against the Frisco RoughRiders.
