2 shot in family dispute over gun possession, SAPD says

The shooting happened Wednesday in the 900 block of Shemya Avenue

SAN ANTONIO – A man and woman were hospitalized following an argument over a firearm that resulted in the gun discharging on the South Side, according to San Antonio police.

The shooting happened just after 3 p.m. in the 900 block of Shemya Avenue.

Police said the man and woman live together and are family members. However, their exact relationship remains unknown.

Authorities said the two were struggling over the firearm when a single shot was fired. It’s unclear who fired the weapon.

The victims were taken to a hospital for further treatment. Their conditions are not yet known.

SAPD said a third person was also inside the home, but it’s unclear if they were involved in the altercation.

It is also unknown if any charges will be filed at this time.
