Medical examiner identifies man shot, killed outside Walgreens on West Side

A man who was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Walgreens on the West Side has been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner.

Ricardo Ortega, 30, died at the scene, according to the ME.

The shooting happened just after midnight in the 4700 block of West Commerce Street.

At last check, police are still looking for the suspects responsible.

A man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Walgreens on the city’s West Side early Sunday morning, according to San Antonio police.

The shooting happened just after midnight in the 4700 block of West Commerce Street.

Police said a car with two people pulled into the parking lot. One family member got out to get money from an ATM inside the store when they heard gunshots.

The family member told police they saw an unknown black vehicle drive westbound on West Commerce Street.

The driver was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the abdomen laying in the parking lot. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.

No arrests have been made as of yet.
