New 6-acre Texas surf lagoon will create up to 1,000 waves an hour

HOUSTON – HTX Surf is a new man-made surf lagoon that will be making waves in Houston in 2024.

The 6-acre lagoon will be part of Generation Park, which is expected to break ground in early 2023.

Such a unique amenity is a great asset for Houston and will attract a wide range of personalities--from professional surfers, amateur boarders, families, and corporate groups among others,” said owner/developer of Generation Park Ryan McCord.

The park will create up to 1,000 waves per hour and will be able to comfortably accommodate 70 surfers, allowing beginners and advanced surfers to simultaneously surf in different areas of the lagoon.

“The amenities and experiences at HTX Surf will rival a best day on the water, whether you’re an expert or new to the sport,” said McCord.

HTX Surf will be located just 10 minutes from Bush Intercontinental Airport. An exact address was not provided.

There will also be a private members’ club, hot tubs, fire pits, swimming pool, beach areas, skateboard pump track and an event lawn for bands and festivals, according to a press release sent to KSAT.

The large beach area will be available for spectators to relax and enjoy views of the lagoon.

HTX Surf memberships will include benefits like early access to the surf lagoon reservation platform, private member sessions in the surf lagoon and access to private member areas, including a clubhouse. Members will also get access to free and discounted amenities and onsite events like concerts and surf contests.

HTX Surf will provide advanced training programs focused on helping guests learn to surf and improve their skills, a press release states.
