Driver ejected, killed after crashing into parked truck on East Side, police say

Crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on South Pine near Alabama Street

SAN ANTONIO – A male driver was killed after he was ejected from his vehicle following a crash into a parked truck on the city’s East Side early Monday morning, San Antonio police said.

The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. in the 500 block of South Pine Street, not far from Alabama and South Hackberry streets.

According to police, a man in his 20s or 30s was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when he drifted over the white line and rear-ended a truck that was parked along a curb. That’s when, police say, the driver was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the impact of the crash pushed the truck over the sidewalk, through a yard and onto the front porch of a home. There were no reports of any other injuries. The driver killed has not been identified.

Authorities say there were no witnesses to the crash.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all answered the call.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
