Medical examiner IDs man killed in hit-and-run crash on Southeast Side

A man killed in a hit-and-run crash on the Southeast Side last month has been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner.

Pedro Antonio Ramirez Pavon, 36, died from blunt force head trauma, according to the ME.

The crash happened around 3:40 a.m. in the 7400 block of I-37 South northbound on Sept. 30.

Police said Pavon was working on his broken down vehicle on the side of the road when a woman’s vehicle struck him while passing. He died at the scene.

The driver left the scene of the crash but was later found and taken into custody. Her identity has not been released.

A 26-year-old woman has been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run crash on the city’s Southeast Side early Friday morning, according to San Antonio police.

Officers were called around 3:40 a.m. to the 7400 block of I-37 South northbound after receiving word of a person injured.

According to police, the victim, a man, was working on his broken down vehicle on the side of the road when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The man hit was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver fled after crash, but was found after witnesses were able to give details on where she fled to, police said. The woman was taken into custody without incident.

The name and age of the man killed have not yet been released. SAPD has not identified the woman arrested.

Police did say that the woman will be charged with failure to stop and render aid, resulting in a death. The investigation is ongoing.
