Person hit, killed on Highway 281 on North Side; lanes reopened

Southbound lanes between Loop 410 and Jones Maltsberger have reopened

A person was hit and killed on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, on the southbound lanes of Highway 281 near Sunset Road. (KSAT)

SAN ANTONIO – A pedestrian died after they were struck on Highway 281 on the North Side on Thursday morning.

The crash happened just before 6 a.m. on the southbound lanes of the highway, near Sunset Road.

The pedestrian’s name and age have not been released.

A woman told KSAT that her husband called her and said he hit a person who ran across the highway. The driver remained at the scene and was questioned by police.

The southbound lanes of Highway 281 were closed between Loop 410 and Jones Maltsberger Road as authorities investigated the crash, but they have since reopened.
