Medical examiner IDs driver, passenger killed in head-on crash with 18-wheeler on Highway 90

Crash occurred around 3 a.m. Friday on Highway 90 WB, near Cupples Road

SAN ANTONIO – A man and a woman killed in a head-on crash with an 18-wheeler on Highway 90 have been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner.

Carmen Azucena Corpus, 21, and Kevin Horacio Corpus, 22, of Kirby, died from multiple trauma injuries they sustained in the crash, according to the ME. Both of them died at the scene.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. Friday in the 2600 block of Highway 90, near South General McMullen on the city’s West Side.

Police said the pair’s white Nissan Altima was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway for an unknown reason when it crashed head-on with the big rig.

The driver of the 18-wheeler tried to avoid the crash, but the Nissan corrected and slammed into the semi-truck, according to SAPD.

Highway 90 westbound was closed as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

At last check, it’s still unknown if the driver of the big rig sustained any injuries. The investigation continues.
