2nd Johnson High School student killed in fiery crash identified by Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office

Victims identified as Gabriel Juarez, 16, and Ziv Hoodani, 17

SAN ANTONIO – The second Johnson High School student killed in a wreck on Saturday afternoon has been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities said Gabriel Juarez, 16, died of blunt force injuries in a fiery, two-car crash in the 23200 block of Bulverde Road, not far from TPC Parkway. The other victim was identified Tuesday as Ziv Hoodani, 17.

The crash happened around 3:50 p.m. Saturday near the school’s entrance, but it’s unclear what led up to it, according to Bexar County sheriff’s deputies.

The impact resulted in both vehicles bursting into flames.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, a witness tried to pull Juarez and Hoodani out of a Nissan Altima, but the vehicle began to be engulfed in flames and the witness was unable to extricate the victims.

In the other vehicle, a 64-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were extricated from a Mazda CX-5 and taken to a hospital with minor injuries, BCSO said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation but BCSO officials said Wednesday it appears that no “criminality” was involved in the crash.
