Natalia Public Water System ‘has taken the necessary corrective actions,’ city says

NATALIA, TexasUpdate (10:20 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28): A boil water notice for the city of Natalia has been rescinded as of Tuesday.

Customers on Friday were asked to boil their water due to reduced system pressure, but city officials said the Public Water System has resolved the matter.

“The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of 28 September 2021,” the city said in a news release.

Original (3:09 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24): Due to reduced system pressure, the City of Natalia Public Water System has notified its customers to boil their water prior to consumption.

To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes and cooled prior to use for drinking or human consumption purposes.

Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, a news release said.

In lieu of boiling, residents may buy bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking or human consumption purposes.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will notify customers.
