Driver of medical transport van loses vehicle to gun-wielding carjacker

Victim was picking up patient when gunman approached

SAN ANTONIO – A van driver waiting to pick up a patient for a medical appointment early Friday morning ended up with a load of trouble.

San Antonio police say he was carjacked by another man who brandished a gun.

The driver told officers he was sitting at the curb on Rigsby Avenue near South Walters Street around 4 a.m., waiting outside the home of a patient.

He says a silver sedan suddenly pulled up in front of him, then someone got out and pointed a gun at him.

Police say the van driver ran away out of fear.

They believe the gunman then jumped into the van and drove off, leaving behind the sedan.

Investigators spent time collecting fingerprints and other evidence from the sedan.

They also searched the area for the van or the carjacker but did not find either.
