To help answer viewer questions, KSAT.com livestreamed a Back to School Town Hall on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. You can watch the video-on-demand in the video player above.

The live event focused on safety protocols, the latest on mask mandates mental health, the digital divide and vaccines.

It is hosted by KSAT 12 Anchor Ursula Pari, who knows first-hand the challenges of parenting during a pandemic.

Pari said her teenage daughter and high school peers have experienced issues including social anxiety, depression at the loss of social interaction with friends and learning setbacks… at exactly the same time they are grappling with those really tough teenaged years.

“Families were blindsided, but this town hall may help us all go forward together,” Pari said.

Also on the town hall are four panelists:

  • Dr. Nandini Mandlik - Pediatrician with University Health
  • Luke Amphlett - Burbank High School teacher
  • Adonis Schurmann - 7th-grade teacher with NEISD
  • Joshua Essery - Licensed Psychologists with Clarity Child Guidance Center

Also featured on the town hall are taped interviews with:

Pedro Martinez - SAISD Superintendent will answer viewer questions submitted on KSAT.com

Inga Cotton - Founder and executive director of San Antonio Charter Moms
